Fedem Technology launches
release 4.0
Fedem Technology launches the 4th generation of it's
integrated simulation software. The new release confirms Fedem Technology’s
strong commitment to the mechanical industry by delivering state of the
art solutions for concept investigation and virtual verification of mechanical products -
spanning from hand-held tools to complete vehicles.
Together with a
CAD and FE-Meshing software, Fedem release 4.0 forms a complete
engineering platform for mechanical product development and verification.

Fedem
can be used from the early
stage motions dynamics,
where only hardpoints are known, to advanced models
with true flexibility and advanced joint characteristics.
The principal hardpoint model can use VRML geometry models for
visualizaton.
Finite element meshes represent parts where flexibility is crucial or
stresses need to be investigated. In
the early stage product development and late stage product maintenance,
Fedem will provide important answers and knowledge in the continued efforts to create
better and more competitive products.

Key Features new in Fedem R4.0
Faster
& simplified event modeling
-
A new, faster and more
flexible method for combining system variables, functions and control
systems.
-
Sensors, Engines and
Functions has been merged into a single new and intuitive Function object.
-
Output from a function
can be used as argument in a another function, enabling superior modeling
flexibility.
Enhanced joint design
-
Extended
set of constraints for joint DOFs gives more flexible definition and
modification of the joint type and characteristics. With the new
features the detailing level of the joints can evolve along the
development of your model.
-
Loads
can now also be applied at joint DOFs, which is extremely useful when
modeling motors, actuators, hydralic cylinders etc.
-
The
revolute joint can be extended into a
cylindrical joint.
-
A new joint type, Axial Joint, acting, enables fast and easy modeling of
cylinders etc. This is a single DOF joint and has the same
constraint
options as other joints DOFs.
-
Spring- and damper characteristics can now also be defined by
data on files.
Link Enhancements
-
Links
can now also be represented by VRML models for visualization.
-
Automatic
stiffness calculation for semi-rigid Generic Parts.
-
Reference
geometry for visualization can be included in the model
Guide panel
A guide panel with messages, Done and Cancel buttons leads the user
through the modeling.
|
UI features
-
Icons have been added on the main nodes of the model tree in the Object
Browser view, increasing the readability of the model.
-
Multiple file references can now be created
in one operation.
-
The path to the model link repository can
now be relative.
-
Curves can now have an
automatically defined description.
-
Auto coloring of links
when they are imported.
-
Prescribed motions on triads is available
Reduced storage requirements
The matrices mapping internal DOFs to external DOFs, the B- and E-matrix,
may now be stored in single precision to reduce
disk usage.
Model file template
When starting Fedem or when doing a "New" command, a template model file
is loaded containing some commonly used Graph and Animation definitions
etc. The user may modify the contents of this file or change to another
model file.
Remote solving
Remote solving enables execution of solver operations on a remote computer
with file access to the actual Fedem model and result database.
Extended
Nastran Bulk Data support
The following Nastran Bulk Data entries is
added:
-
CROD/PROD
-
CONROD
-
CWELD/PWELD
