Release 4.1

Fedem Technology launches Release 4.1.

Fedem Technology launches a new maintenance release of it's integrated simulation software. The new release confirms Fedem Technology’s strong commitment to the mechanical industry by delivering state of the art solutions for concept investigation and virtual verification of mechanical products.

The new release strengthens Fedem's position as the leading tool for time domain analysis based on FE super element reduction. The new release enables the engineer to simulate long time events with millions of degrees of freedom on the 32-bit windows platform. Due to the super element reduction technology the simulation time of the dynamics simulation is extremely fast, and can be compared with rigid body based simulations. With new 3D animations of the component modes used by the super element reduction, the engineering understanding of this automated process is enhanced.

Key Features new in Fedem R4.1

FE-Part improvements

  • Out-of-core reducer breaks the 2GB limit on 32-Bit systems.
  • Visualization of component modes of FE-parts and eigenmodes of the reduced FE-models for better control and understanding.
  • Import of Nastran pre-reduced FE-models.
  • Residual stresses can be imported to improve accuracy of stress and fatigue results.

Generic Part improvements

  • Automatically extracts mass properties from FE-part.
  • Improved stability.

Dynamics Solver

  • Improved output to .res file makes it easier to find and correct model errors.
  • New pure quasi-static simulation mode
  • Advanced spring characteristics
    enables easy clutch modeling.
Simplifies modeling of mechanical failure and yield.

Cam joint improvements

  • Radial contact enables pipe contact models.
  • All 6-DOFs available for full modeling flexibility.
  • Improved stability on corners.
  • Slider length and accumulated contact distance as new output.
  • Improved modeling.

Output and results

  • Improved output options for Stress recovery.
  • Automatic export of animations and stress recovery results to VTF. For use in GLview Express.
  • The deformational displacements in Triads are now available for plotting.
  • Automatic creation of curves for all objects in model, makes it easy to find peak loads, and get an overview of the total model performance.
  • New curves automatically gets a new color.
