Fedem R4.2 released

Fedem Technology AS launches a new maintenance release of it's integrated simulation software. With this release a great step is taken to make the accesibility of the structural dynamics technology better.

A new feature called Surface Connectors simplifies the procedure to connect Joints and loads to the FE-meshes, and makes free meshed FE models directly usable.

The new licensing regime, and simplified license management makes Fedem Free Edition accessible to everyone.

New Features in Fedem R4.2

Modeling and model maintenance

  • Triad-Link connection simplified with Surface Connectors
    • Distributes forces from joints onto areas of the FE parts.
    • Eliminates the need to create RBE3, RBE2 or beam elements in order to create attachable nodes at the joint position. A mesh with solid  elements only can thus be used without any preprocessing.
    • Makes it easier to place joints in the center of holes.
  • Link Repository management (Move and merge)
  • Improved modeling on VRML models.

Embedded strain gage fatigue

  • Calculate life and damage from virtual strain gages based on standard SN-curves.
  • Lifetime reported in cycles, hours and days.
  • SN-curves from British Standard BS 7608 and NorSok included.
  • Can be extended with custom S-N curves.

Licensing

  • Simplified license installation and management.
  • Free Edition of Fedem makes the rigid body features of Fedem free to use.

General Improvements

  • Enhanced listing of graphs and curves.
  • Detailed progress information from all solvers
  • Mouse wheel support
  • Additional keyboard navigation controls for modeler and control editor.
  • Improved default values
